What does self care mean to you holistically?

I wanted to share something close to my heart, the topic of self care. Over these last few weeks, I have been reminded of the importance of self care and reflected on the ways I support myself, holistically.

Pause and ask yourself, what does self care mean to me holistically

The word self care has become a buzzword lately. A pedicure, a luxurious day at the spa, a glass of wine, the self care checklist, and the focus is normally on something exterior or outside of yourself. It has become a quick fix, a band aid for the discomfort and disconnect we feel from ourselves. We have lost sight of the true meaning of self care somehow along the way. 

Self care is an inside job, especially if you want to decrease your chronic pain and migraines.

As a holistic practitioner and healer for over 20 years, I have learned many lessons. I cannot show up for others if I do not show up fully for myself first. Plain and simple. In order for me to show up as a mom, BodyMind Coach, or friend and give to others I must give to myself, nurture myself from the inside.

Self care for me is about choices, living with intention and focus, listening to my body’s inner wisdom, and upholding boundaries that honor and support my values. Self care holistically to me, is living from a state of deep inner connection.

Many people walk into my studio depleted, exhausted, stressed, injured, with pain levels through the roof. Yes, life happens, and tries to pull us in every direction, it happens to all of us. But what would it look like if you could be so connected to yourself and recognize the early signs before the snowball gets big and picks up momentum?

When we peel back the layers, how do you nurture and honor yourself, from the inside? 

You have many choices when it comes to your self care holistically. How you choose to spend your time, how you uphold your boundaries that support you, how you choose to honor your values, how you support your health and wellness, what feeds you, what lights you up, what inspires you, and what brings you a great inner sense of joy?

Understanding your own body mind connection, listening to what your body needs to create a healthy state mentally, physically, and spiritually. No one else has these answers as you are the only one living in your body and you know your body the best.

Living in true alignment, so when you put your head down on your pillow at night, you can reflect and feel good about how you honored yourself that day. That is SELF care.
